Annihilation is an American-British science fiction film written and directed by Alex Garland, released in 2018. This is the adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jeff Vandermeer (2014).
Lena, a biologist and former soldier, is on an exploration mission to understand what happened to her husband in a geographical area where a mysterious and sinister phenomenon is spreading along the American coasts. Once there, the members of the expedition discover that landscapes and creatures have undergone changes, and despite the beauty of the place, danger reigns and threatens their lives, but also their mental integrity.
